EAST is the first full superconducting tokamak with a divertor configuration. The first limiter plasma was obtained in September, 2006, and the first divertor plasma was obtained in 2007. It’s planned that the first wall will be covered by graphite tiles before the winter operation in 2007. However, for the present stage, the first wall is all metal. ICRF boronization has been successfully used for obtaining good wall conditioning. The whole process was monitored well by using RGA and film thickness monitor, and was used for better control of the boronization. Due to the material used (C2B10H12), large amount of H inventory was observed shortly after boronization. It provided a wall condition favorable for high density operation. Besides that, detailed study on the wall conditioning would help to provide a better controlled wall in a shorter period. ICRF boronization was proved to be an efficient wall conditioning method for superconducting device which has a permanent magnetic field. In this paper, the processing is introduced about the pre-treatment, boronization and post-treatment on EAST.
