Luminescent properties of Eu-doped La2O3 films deposited by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis

The luminescence properties of La2O3:Eu films deposited by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis process were studied as a function of growth parameters such as the substrate temperature and the europium concentration. For an excitation wavelength of 280 nm, all the photoluminescent emission spectra show the peaks associated to the electronic transitions of the Eu3+ ion eith a dominant peak at 614 nm. The deposition temperatures were in the range of 500 to 600 C. The structural and surface morphology characteristics of the films, as a function of the deposition temperature, are also presented.
