A new diffractometer Newport/Microcontrol N6050-G+K multipurpose goniometer with kappa, horizontal omega and vertical omega goniometer options has been installed and is now available at beamline I811 at MAX-lab (Sweden). It is completed with a high-resolution positioning system that includes a Physik Instrumente (PI) M-850 Hexapod sample orienter. The goniometer is set up to allow sample chambers up to 200 kg to be mounted.
A new ultra high vacuum (UHV) / high pressure chamber is being designed for this goniometer to allow coupling of standard UHV samples preparation and characterisation and XRD or SXRD experiments at high pressure in the same chamber. For example, the study of dynamic phenomena in thin films or in-situ measurements of the oxidation and reactivity of metals will be performed.
The characteristic of the diffractometer, the beamline and the new chamber will be described in this poster to explain to scientists what will be available at I811.
